MP Questions Cigarette Ads In Public Places Tuesday, 23 April 2013 17:35 A Member of Parliament has strongly questioned the use of cigarette advertising in public places because of the negative impacts on people’s health, especially young people.

MP Josefa Alvares Soares said, as Timor-Leste is a new country with a small population, when the government does not pay attention to this problem it can be a big threat to human resources because now Timor-Leste has a high instance of tuberculosis and cancer also.
RF: Gender Subjects Needed in School Curriculum Tuesday, 23 April 2013 17:27 Rede Feto (Women’s Network) Timor-Leste urges the Ministry of Education to include gender as a subject in the national curriculum so students can better understand gender and its contribution to development.

Rede Feto Representative Laura Soares Abrantes said students as part of the new generation need to know about gender because Timor-Leste still has high rates of inequality, discrimination and violence against women.
IHPSOTL Accuses VCCT of Discrimination against MSM and Transgender Tuesday, 23 April 2013 17:02 Program Manager, Rui Carvalho, of the ISEAN Hivos Program Satellite Office in Timor-Leste, accuses personnel working at the Volunteer Confidential Counselling Testing facilities of discriminating against MSM (men who have sex with men) and transgender Timorese when these clients go for HIV/AIDS tests.
