MP’s pray for journalist Max Stahl’s speedy recovery

MP Reman Selak prays and wishes journalist Max Stall a speed and full recovery after his treatment for throat cancer.Members of the National Parliament (MP) wished journalist Max Stahl a speedy recovery because he is undertaking intensive throat cancer treatment in a Hospital in the United Kingdom.

MP Faustino dos Santos ‘Renan Selak’ said he will pray for his full recovery.

“I pray he can recover because this journalist was able through his images during our war to contribute to our liberation,” said MP Selak last week (27/03) at the National Parliament, Dili.

MP Selak added Max Stahl’s footage of the 12 November 1991 Santa Cruz Cemetery Massacre opened the eyes of the word to the atrocities taking place in Timor-Leste.

“Through these kinds of pressure we were granted the right to a Referendum. I was part of the resistance and I heard of this man even though I only got to see him in person and his work after independence,” said MP Selak.
He recommended the Government offer him some type of support to help him in his health treatment so he can quickly recover.

Meanwhile MP Mateus de Jesus said had Max Stahl not filmed the 12 November 1991 Massacre at the Santa Cruz Cemetery the world would continue to be ignorant to what was happening in Timor-Leste.
“If the government is able to, it should provide him with some support to assist him in the health treatment,” said MP de Jesus.

On his part MP Mario Viegas Carascalo added the government needs to look into how it can help Max Stahl in his recovery.
“I know personally of Max Stahl’s work and when Timor opened to the world he came in and made us part of it especially what happened in Santa Cruz,” said MP Carrascalao.
