Twenty-five youths received civic education training and were trained to provide training by the Secretariat of State for Youths and Sport (SEJD).

SEJD Head of Department for strengthening youths' Jacinto Antonio Ximenes said the aim of the training was to increase the knowledge of young people about civic education and with training methodologies.
"They will provide civic education training to other youths in the municipalities," he said in Dili.
During the week-intensive training, participants learnt theory and did practical work on way of conducting meetings and making training plans, and on monitoring and assessment of programs.
Ermera Municipality youth representative Maria Oliveira said the knowledge they acquired after training will be shared with other volunteer youths in her municipality.
She said they also learnt about good communication, the ability to organize an event, and how to conduct training at their centre.
"During the elections, many youths do not understand their duty as citizens in taking part in the democracy party. Reality has shown that many people did not take part in the election," she said.
She added youth in rural areas have difficulty to access information and as a result they mostly do not give importance to important matters in their life and continue get involved in conflict.
On the other hand, the German Aid organization GIZ National Supervisor Leonesia Tecla da Silva said they provide technical support for the training program because it is very important for young people to know in depth
about human rights and how to be good citizen.
Besides, GIZ also provides training to the youth about conflict resolution, conflict transformation, and during the training programs undertaken in the municipalities.
"The program may end but the knowledge will not end. We hope they will continue to share the knowledge they acquired with others youth," she added.
She said also this is the third round of training provided to young people from the municipalities.
