The government of Germany has donated €7.5 millions to the Timor-Leste Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communication (MOPTK) for the building of the Berlin Nakroma II to support sea transport operations between Dili to Atauro and to Oe-cusse.

Government of Germany has donated €7.5 millions to the Timor-Leste for the building of the Berlin Nakroma II.

The Deputy Minister II of MOPTK, Inacio Morreira said companies were bidding for the building of the new ship for Timor-Leste.
"We hope those interested in building our ship will bid for it,” he said.
Timor-Leste will design the new ship while the funds from the Germany will be used to build it.
Based on plans, the new ship should be ready by 2018.
On the other hand, the President of Commission E (for infrastructure, transport and communication affairs), MP Pedro Martires da Costa called for the government to be rigorous in bidding process to engage a company that is known for its excellent ship building capability.
"I am proud because we will have our own ship but the government should ensure due process is followed," he said.
