Community don’t understand the role of the Emergency Department

Health staff at the Emergency Department are concerned because patients with everyday sicknesses come to the Emergency Department at the hospital to look for intensive treatment.

According to the Head of the Emergency Department at the National Hospital Guido Valadares (HNGV) Americo dos Santos, often people in the community do not understand the system of care within the Emergency Department.

Alola Foundation Provides Public Speaking Training to Caicoli Youth

The Alola Foundation, through its Advocacy Department, provided training to youth from the village of Caicoli, in Dili, on public speaking to prepare them to disseminate information on HIV/AIDS prevention in the community.

The Coordinator of the Advocacy Department, Apolonia Maria da Costa, said many youths are not able to speak in public so through this basic capacity building exercise their confidence to speak in public will be strengthened and they can speak to the community about drug abuse and HIV/AIDS prevention.

SEPI Holds Dialogue on Peace and Security At The Suai Border

The Secretariat of State for the Promotion of Equality (SEPI) conducted dialogue with the border communities in Suai district on peace and security on how those communities can distance themselves from violence and can create peace in their own neighbourhoods.

SEPI General Director Armando da Costa said the dialogue focused on young girls and women in these communities, because they are more likely to become victims of different types of violence at any time apart from other types of conflict between youths, neighbourhoods, martial arts and other problems such as HIV/AIDS.
