FTH concerned of less and expired medicine ARV

The Executive Director of the Build Timor Foundation (FTH) is very concerned as the stock of the Anti Retro Viral medicine for HIV/AIDS patients is low and some has already expired.

FTH Executive Director Aguia Ximnes Belo considers the issue is serious and the Ministry of Health must resolve it immediately because many patients require this medicine to prolong their lives.

Marie Stopes Teaches Journalists About Reproductive Health

The Maries Stopes International Clinic Timor-Leste (MSITL) distributed information on reproductive health to journalists to increase their knowledge of this topic.

According to the Coordinator of Marketing at MSITL, Mariano da Silva, journalists have an important role to disseminate information in the community.

He said the objective of the workshop was to encourage journalists to understand more about basic reproductive health, so they can report this information to the community.

“What we observe is that journalists so far tend to report on politics, economics, agriculture but very little on health,” said Marketing Coordinator da Silva, in Dili.

According to the Coordinator of the Mary Stopes International (MSI) Clinic Timor-Leste, Fernanda Maria Serra, Tubectomy (tying of the tubes) is a safe and effective method for women who have serious problems during pregnancy or who do not want any more children.

Coordinator Serra said the procedure is offered by MSI to women aged above 36 years old or those with more than seven children.
