Ten (10) families in the Suco of Wailili feel discriminated against, because to date they have had no access to electricity while everyone else around them does.
“Electricity came to the Suco in 2010, however these ten households have not been connected,” said João Freitas, a member of the Wailili Suco community in the District of Baucau (07/07).
He asked Government to provide black cabling so they can hang them on the available power poles and connect these ten households.
Apolónia Maria Fraga reiterated his request, saying she was extremely saddened by the fact everyone else had been connected, with the exception of the abovementioned houses.
“All of our friends’ houses have electricity but for us there is no cabling to connect our houses,” said Fraga.
Mário Viegas Carrascalão, a Member of Parliament said this was the responsibility of the Majority Parliamentary Alliance (AMP) government.
“We were part of the AMP government however electricity was not one of our party’s folio, but CNRT’s,” said the Social Democratic Party (PSD) MP.
