A man (the accused) slashed his wife’s (the victim) left leg after she refused him some money to buy wine to go drink with his friends.

A man slashed his wife’s left leg after she refused him some money to buy wine to go drink with his friends.

According to the accusation by the Public Ministry read by the presiding judge, one evening, the accused after returning home from work asked his wife to give him some money to buy wine.
The victim refused and said tomorrow which angered the accused. He proceeded to take money for wine.
After buying some wine, the accused called his friends to go out drinking. After returning home the accused got into an altercation with the victim for not giving him money earlier to buy wine.
During the altercation, the accused got angry and grabbed a machete and slashed the victims’ leg. He also threw stones at her twice hitting her on the back.
As a result, the victim received seven stitches on her left leg and felt pain on her back.
After reading the accusation, the presiding judge called on the accused for his statement but he refused to talk and agreed with the facts read.
The judge also called for the victim to give her statement. She said she has since the incident reconciled with her husband and that their situation is now fine. They continue to live in the same house and are taking care of their children.
"We are fine and living as a married couple," she said.
Meanwhile, the Public Ministry charged the accused with violating article 154 of the penal code on committing a domestic violence crime against his wife and the accused was sentenced to two to six years in prison.
