During the Budget Debate many parliamentarians (MP) ended up as patients of the National Parliament’s VIP clinic, with the majority displaying symptoms of hypertension.
“Every time the State Budget is being debated in Parliament, many MP’s come in, with most displaying symptoms of hypertension,” said Filomena Lin, (01/08), the nurse at the VIP clinic, at the National Parliament, in Dili.
The VIP clinic was establishes in 2009 and caters for parliamentarians, Government as well as staff members in emergency cases.
A foreign doctor and a nurse are all the medical personnel working at the clinic which caters specifically to those people.
The nurse informed they ran out of hypertension medication and had to tell the clients to take the prescription to the National Hospital Guido Valadares.
“We are re-stocked and we are referring the MPs to the National Hospital for treatment,” said the nurse.
Member of Parliament (MP) Virginia Ana Belo said she visited the clinic as a patient and was impressed with the service and professionalism of the staff, as well as the fully stocked medical cabinet.
“I believe Timorese doctors should be working here providing services instead of a foreign doctor,” said the MP.
