Five Reporters and one editor of The Dili Weekly learn how to Mojo

The Mojo training package introduced to journalists at The Dili Weekly newspaper in Timor-Leste was developed by Ivo Burum of Burum Media

Complementing more mainstream teaching and infrastructures, mojo storytelling is married with affordable and accessible pocket ready technology and the internet.

Mojo is a first step in democratising the lives of people and communities, by helping deliver a local voice to a global audience.

Based on mainstream skill sets the mojo package teaches mobile production skills and journalistic short form storytelling, using small hand held digital devices, like the iPhone.

The Mojo style of story production has now been deployed in secondary schools, tertiary environments and marginalised remote Indigenous communities in Northern Australia, China and now Timor. Mainstream media in Australia, China, Timor, Denmark, UK and Canada has now also adopted the mojo way of digital storytelling.

To find out more here’s an article about mojo in remote Northern Australia, a link to a documentary describing the Making of NT Mojo. The YouTube channel howtomojo and website has some more info, as does the NT Mojo site.
